The Department of Anthropology, University of Copenhagen, is one of the highest ranked and largest anthropology departments in Europe. Besides being an important nexus for traditional anthropological studies within Northern Europe, it has an active inter-disciplinary and mixed methods research profile. Its research policy is centred on issues of political, social and global concerns and the department houses both the Masters in Global Development at the University of Copenhagen as well as the Centre for Cross-border Criminology both of which relate directly to PREVEX line of research.

The motivational force of the University’s research activities is financially and politically independent, i.e. free basic research; however, specific collaborative endeavours with other institutions and companies also have a place among the countless research activities. The dissemination of knowledge and findings to other research environments and the general public is a natural element of the University’s research efforts.
