Routledge Handbook

In June, Djallil Lounnas (Al Akhawayn University) published a book chapter, entitled “Moderate Islamist Parties in the MENA Region and Europe: Between the Democracy-Human Rights and the Stability-Security Nexus” and was published in the Routledge Handbook of EU-Middle East Relations edited by Bouris Dimitris, Daniela Huber and Michelle Pace.

The chapter deals with The moderate Islamist Parties in the MENA region and the European Union. More specifically, the chapter looks at how those parties managed and adapted their policies once in power after the Arab Spring and cooperated with the EU especially on issues of migration and security which became of paramount importance for the EU after 2015 in its relations with the MENA region, thus showing a high level of pragmatism and adaptability.
