Save the date: Pre-launch conversation on upcoming UNDP report

What drives people to and from violent extremism in Africa?

On Monday, December 12, UNDP Oslo Governance Centre is organising the event “Journey to Extremism: Pathways to Recruitment and Disengagement”, which will be held at Oslo’s Public Library, Deichman Bjørvika. Ahead of the upcoming launch of the UNDP report ‘Journey to Extremism in Africa: Pathways to Recruitment and Disengagement’ early in 2023, the event will gather key stakeholders from policy circles, academia and local level practitioners who will take stock of responses to the violent extremist threat in Africa in the last five years, reflecting on why sub-Saharan Africa has become a new epicentre of violent extremism, and what works in terms of development responses to violent extremism.

Along with PREVEX Principal Investigator Morten Bøås, panellists include Fatima Akilu (Executive Director, NEEM), Ilwad Elman (Chief Operating Officer, Elman Peace Centre), Hauwa Shaffi Nuhu (writer), and Samira Gaid (Executive Director, Hiraal Institute).
